Just delivered this guy to its #foreverhome 🥰 Who doesn't love giraffes hey...just gorgeous fascinating creatures with incredible eyelashes. Their 18-22 inch long tongues are seriously a force of nature on its own, being a prehensile, meaning giraffes can use its strong muscular tongue to grasp and manipulate objects, amazingly removing leaves, shoots from the most thorniest of plants/bushes/trees. This year, there is even more reason to celebrate World Serval Day as DEFRA have now recommended the banning of the hybridisation of Serval with domestic cats, as well as the import of hybrid cats into the UK, such as Savannah cats and Chausies. It is particularly dangerous for a domestic female cat, especially during mating and during birth. Please sign a petition on the @catsprotection bio page to help them make real change and keep cats like Xirus in the wild. Both #catsprotection and @wildheartanimalsanctuary will be heading to parliament to speak to MP's today calling regulations for cats breeding and ban hybrids. So today's post is the second #portraitart that I can now #reveal with you... The first two images are the photo reference; the first one was the clients image given to me to use as a reference, but whilst discussing commission with the client, we ended up putting a twist on it. Not only did we crop the original photo, we also only included the colour on their clothes, which was really effective. Once it had been framed up, I felt it really made the artwork pop! The black and white parts I have drawn in #charcoal and the coloured clothes I used #pastels This was great fun to create. The title was #handdrawn like yesterday's one, then I used a fine black pen to finish it off. Happy #humpday with some #portraitart I can now #reveal for the #portraitlovers and the #artlovers The first two images are the photo reference; first one is what the client gave me to use, but in the second image, it shows how we slightly rotated the image to make the cottages in the background more level to the horizon, as was slightly off. I loved working on this piece, not only great clients to work with, but there were so many textures within this piece. I especially loved drawing the cottages, so many colours in just that section and again, throughout the whole drawing. Was fun seeing it materialise. I always ask if clients would like to have their title #handdrawn on the mountboard or on the original. It is always a personal preference, no wrong or right decision. I have always enjoyed drawing fonts. I used to do a lot of calligraphy. It is such beautiful writing. There are so many fonts to have fun with. On its journey to Israel 🇮🇱 This print is from the original pastel drawing of an orangutan I drew from my own photo reference that ended up being a finalist and won the #endangeredspecies category in the BBC WAOTY competition/exhibition. It ran alongside the #bbcwildlifemagazine so all category winners were published in the magazine, which was very exciting and was such an honour. Sadly, it doesn't run anymore. Today is #worldotterday, which occurs on the last Wednesday of May, falling on the 29th of May this year. So I'm showing my appreciation of them through this #drawing I have drawn in charcoal of three inquisitive #orientalshortclawedotter Otters are beautiful and very playful animals that live in the wetlands across the world. Species are declining due to habitat destruction, reduction of prey, roadkill, and the illegal trade for fur and as pets. There are 13 different species, 12 of which are disappearing 😢 seven of these species are classified as vulnerable, and five are endangered. The International Otter Survival Fund founded World Otter Day with two goals in mind; first, to help raise awareness of the dangers they face, second, to educate people on how to protect their habitats.
